Pershore Scout Hut Build 2010
From start to finish building a Scout Hut in Pershore, for local scout groups to have a home, in the beautiful setting of Pershore Horticultural College in 2010. 14 years later the Hut is still there and thriving!
Mission
The mission was simple. My son Charles attended a small beaver group run by Julie Izod and Robert Roberts at Abbey Park Middle School. It was decided that the Scouts of Pershore needed a new home.

I was happy to join the team as the 1st Pershore Scout Hut Secretary and Chief Fundraising Expert to obtain the funding that would be needed to build a Scout Hut.
We sought out various locations within Pershore Town but unfortunately every location was refused for various reasons by Pershore Town Council.

Eventually in 2010 Robert Roberts worked with Pershore Horticultural College and we were given three portacabins to make in to a fully functional Scout Hut for groups in Pershore.

Whilst the Scout Hut is situated 0.5 miles out of the boundary of Pershore we are proud to still have the benefit of this amazing Scout Hut for all manner of groups to attend such as Brownies, Guides and various other local organisations to share our space with.

This provides the children of Pershore with lots of out of school activities to enjoy in a beautiful idylic setting.
Vision
Our vision was clear. We had a destination, we had the portacabins, now it was time to come up with a plan of the inside of the hut that would create the necessary hall space, toilet and shower facilities, solar hot water system and general inside space to accommodate all local children's groups not just the scouts and become a community asset to Pershore.

We actively fundraised and raised £55,000 to complete a whole refurbishment of the cabins in to the new 1st Pershore Scout Group. This took over 8 months to raise. We appealed in local newspapers, spent the majority of Saturday mornings bag packing at our local Asda Supermarket and actively fundraised the whole amount of the funding through grit and determination.

Robert Roberts the chairman and myself worked incredibly long hours (all voluntary) to ensure that the mission was a success and today 14 years later I am proud to say it is still there and actively being used by the youth.
